Certificate in Higher Education in Theology, Ministry, and Mission

Validated by Durham University as part of the Common Awards suite of degrees, the Certificate in Higher Education in Theology, Ministry, and Mission offers a one-year introduction to theology, ministry, and mission in a range of real-world contexts. It is particularly suited for those who want to be more fully equipped for Christian life and service, explore their faith more deeply, or take time to grow before committing to a full degree.

Ideal for school leavers considering Clearing, a purposeful gap year, or alternative pathways into higher education, the Certificate can be taken as a stand-alone qualification or used as a first step toward a full degree in theology or a related subject. Students may go on to serve in churches, charities, or community organisations — or continue into further study as a route into a wide range of future possibilities, including roles in church ministry, education, the public and voluntary sectors, chaplaincy, or further academic study.
